Aragon 7, Burlingame 0
The Dons solidified their hold on third place in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division standings with the sweep of the Panthers.
The third-place finisher in the Bay earns the No. 2 seed in the PAL team tournament.
Aragon (8-4 PAL Bay, 10-6 overall) was dominant in the win over Burlingame, winning all seven matches in straight sets. Randy Liu, playing at No. 4 singles, made quick work of his match, winning 6-1, 6-0. Ilan Leventhal dropped only one game in each set of a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. The Dons’ No. 3 doubles team of Nick Hudson and Sahith Bhamidipati won their match 6-1, 6-2. Daniel Duan, normally Aragon’s No. 2 singles player, was moved to doubles where he teamed with Richard Tang to win 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Softball
Mercy-Burlingame 7, Pinewood 6
The Crusaders walked off with the West Bay Athletic League victory when Jordan Larratt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
Pinewood jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second inning, capitalizing on a pair of Mercy errors. The Crusaders would tie the score at 4 with two runs in the fourth and took a 6-5 lead on a Carla Joachin-Alvarez double in the bottom of the sixth.
Pinewood would tie the score at 6 with a run in the top of the seventh, before Mercy won it in its final at-bat.
Joachin-Alvarez drove in three runs on two hits and also scored two runs for Mercy (4-2 WBAL, 6-3 overall). Hailey Armstrong picked up the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts.
College softball
San Mateo 10, Foothill 0
Gabriella Zuchiatti and Lexi Riccardi each blasted two-run homers to pace the Bulldogs to a five-inning, mercy-rule win over the visiting Owls.
The state’s top-ranked team, CSM improved to 9-1 to lead the Coast Conference standings.
Emily Cotla also drove in two runs, while Lauren Quirke went 3 for 3 from the plate and drove in a run as well.
Emily McAdams was the beneficiary of the offense, as she pitched the first four innings in earning the win. Quirke came into to compete the five-inning no-hitter with a clean fifth.

Softball

Carlmont 7, Gilroy 4
The Scots picked up a quality non-league victory over the Mustangs.
Ashley Trierweiler led the offense for Carlmont (13-1 overall), collecting three hits, including a home run, scored three times and drove in a pair of runs. Bianca Vitale added a trio of RBIs for the Scots as well.
That was more than enough offense for Carlmont starting pitcher Mailey McLemore, who improved to 9-1 on the season, allowing four runs on three hits, while striking out five in four innings of work.
Baseball
Menlo School 4, Menlo-Atherton 2
The Knights earned the non-league win over the Bears with a three-run bottom of the fourth.
Kevin Alarcon earned the win for Menlo (6-7 overall) throwing a complete game while scattering five hits and striking out five.
Sam Weseloh had an RBI double for the Knights, who also got a pair of hits from Bennett Norman and Kevin King.
Tyler Nelson led the M-A offense, going 2 for 3.
Boys’ volleyball
Sacred Heart Prep 3, Cristo Rey 0
The Gators swept past the Lions in a non-league match, 25-10, 25-7, 25-11.
Lance Chou led the SHP defense with 13 digs, while David Macias drove the offense, finishing with 12 assists.
Boys’ tennis
Sacred Heart Prep 6, Woodside Priory 1
The Gators cruised to a West Bay Athletic League victory by beating the Panthers.
SHP took three of the four singles matches and swept all three doubles matches to clinch the win.
James Homer set the tone for the Gators at No. 1 singles, winning in straight sets at love.
Mark Theis earned Woodside Priory’s only victory, winning at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
