CHICO, Calif. (AP) — The fraternity where an 18-year-old student died of apparent alcohol poisoning was suspended Tuesday by the president of California State University, Chico. The suspension - which bans the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity from using university facilities and participating in events or conducting business on campus - will be in place until the Chico police department, the university and the fraternity's national headquarters complete investigations of the incident.

Police said Monday that Adrian Derek Heideman of Palo Alto died early Saturday morning after attempting to drink a bottle of brandy at a party four hours earlier.
