Pleasanton 4, Alpine 2
Alpine rallied back to force extra innings, but fell in the seventh in the opening game of the four-team Section 3 Little League All-Stars 10s tournament at Veterans Memorial Park in Union City.
Pleasanton scored two runs in the seventh without recording a hit, using a ghost runner, two walks, two hit batsmen and a wild pitch to take the lead.
Four Pleasanton pitchers combined on a one-hitter, and took a no-hitter into the fifth.
Alpine trailed 2-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth, but scratched out runs in the fourth and fifth to tie it. In the fourth, Patrick Low Ah Kee got hit by a pitch, then scored from first when Andrew Sutkin reached on an error. In the fifth, after back-to-back walks to Tommy Masters and Lolo McNeil to start the inning, Tayo An singled home the tying run and break up the no-hitter.
In the bottom of the seventh, Alpine loaded the bases with two outs and, in the final at-bat of the game, worked the count to 3-2 before Pleasanton closed it out with a strikeout.
With the loss, Alpine falls to the elimination bracket to face Niles-Centerville, Sunday, at 1 p.m.
