The Bears (1-0 PAL Bay, 13-5 overall) went to five sets to win their PAL Bay Division opener 20-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-10, 15-13 at Hillsdale (0-1, 7-3).
Ben Warner led the way for M-A, totaling 20 kills and nine digs. Coen Chou added 13 kills to go with 35 assists. Hillsdale was paced by Nils Bennebroek with 14 kills and six blocks, while Austin Chan added 12 kills.
Mills 3, Capuchino 0
The Vikings (4-0 PAL Ocean, 12-5 overall) won their fourth straight to open league play 25-10, 25-10, 25-14 at home over Capuchino. Collin Chen scored a match-high 19 kills to go with two aces for Mills, Ricky Cheng added eight kills and two blocks, and Benjamin Lin had 22 assists and three blocks.
