The Woodside Wildcats didn’t close out the regular season with a rivalry game, but did just as much celebrating as anyone by doing something the program hadn’t accomplished in over 20 years.
With a 42-14 win Friday night at Milpitas, the Wildcats (5-0 PAL Ocean, 10-0 overall) finished running the table on the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. Former head coach Steve Nicolopulos’ team in 2004, featuring senior quarterback Julian Edelman, was the last time Woodside posted a regular-season perfecto.
Junior quarterback Charlie Dalrymple was 8-of-9 passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns, connecting for scores with junior Grady Furtado (four catches, 132 yards) and senior Juan Servin (two catches, 61 yards). The Wildcats also rushed for four TDs, one apiece from senior Evan Frampton, juniors James Yauch and Max Hua, and sophomore JJ Lange.
Milpitas (1-4, 4-6) was paced by junior quarterback Jonah Mati, who was 13-of-24 passing for 128 yards and one touchdown.
