Menlo School 28, Los Altos 6
The Knights opened the season by cruising past the Eagles.
Menlo (1-0) built a 14-point halftime lead and were never threatened. Ava Allen, the reigning Daily Journal Flag Football Player of the Year, threw three touchdowns. Sophie Housser caught two scoring passes and Becca Clark had the third Allen touchdown toss.
Kaelee Wang rounded out the scoring for Menlo with a rushing touchdown.
San Mateo 13, Hillsdale 0
Scoreless for the first three quarters, the Bearcats punched in a pair of fourth-quarter scores to take down crosstown rival Knights.
San Mateo junior quarterback Kayla Lichaa accounted for 144 yards of total offense — she rushed for 77 yards on 12 carries while completing 12 of 17 passes for 66 more yards and both touchdowns.
Valentina Gomez Palacio caught four passes for 39 yards and a score for the Bearcats. She also added eight tackles on defense. Zoe Lichaa caught one pass for seven — but it was good for a touchdown.
Mountain View 32, Sequoia 6
The Spartans scored in every quarter as they improved to 2-0 on the season with the win over the Ravens.
Mountain View led 6-0 after the first quarter and 14-0 at halftime before scoring 18 more points in the second half.
Sequoia (0-1) avoided the shutout with a four-quarter touchdown.
Menlo-Atherton 13, Rodriguez-Fairfield 6
After being shutout in the first half, the Bears rallied for the win over the Mustangs.
Rodriguez (0-1) scored a touchdown in the first quarter and led 6-0 at halftime before M-A (1-0) rallied. The Bears tied the score with a touchdown in the third quarter and then scored the game-winning touchdown, and extra point, to pull out the win.

Carlmont, the defending PAL champion, opened its season with a 13-0, non-league win over Riordan.
Girls’ golf
Mills 211, San Mateo 277
Irene Jaewon, a freshman, and senior Angelina Chen led the Vikings past the Bearcats at Poplar Creek Golf Course in San Mateo.
Jaewon earned low-round honors with a 3-over 38. Chen one just one shot back with a 4-over 39. Kayli Tsang had a 42 for the Vikings, Christina Chen a 45 and Katie Chun a 47 in rounding out the scoring for Mills.

Dhuyti Chandrashekar led San Mateo with a 43 — the only Bearcat to shoot a sub-50 round.
Sequoia 200, South City 226
The Ravens had a pair of players shoot sub-40 rounds as they cruised past the Warriors at Mariner’s Point Golf Complex in Foster City.
Sequoia was led by senior Addy Mahon, who carded a 37 for low-round honors. Teammate Ella Kennedy was just a shot back with a 38, while Presley Ackerhalt posted a 40. Kaitlyn Knokey (42) and Olivia Macuga (43) rounded out the scoring for the Ravens.
South City got a 38 from Zoe Guevarra. Ashley Lau and Chloe Wong each had 45s for the Warriors, while Brooklyn Lapus carded a 46.

South City 238, Half Moon Bay 274 at Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
Girls’ volleyball
Lincoln-SF 3, Mills 0
The Vikings stayed close in the first two games, but the Mustangs eventually came away with the sweep — 25-21, 25-20, 25-7.
Abigail Purvey led Mills (2-6) with eight kills. Reanna Ng added six kills to go along with a team-high 12 digs. Noelle Young and Kara da Luz each had 10 assist, while Chloe Wong had 10 digs.
In other action ...
Westmoor (2-4) swept past Pacific Bay Christian (1-1) — 25-23, 25-16, 25-6.
Pinewood (2-1) beat Terra Nova (0-3) in four sets — 25-12, 25-5, 21-25, 25-18.
Mission San Jose-Fremont (5-0) beat El Camino (0-2) — 25-16, 25-12, 25-19.
University-SF (3-1) blanked Menlo (0-3) — 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.
Boys’ water polo
Hillsdale 12, Palo Alto 11
The Knights picked up a nice non-league win with the victory over the Vikings.
Tied 3-all after the first period, Palo Alto (0-1) scored three more in the second to lead 6-5 at halftime.
With four goals in the third period, Hillsdale (2-0) tied the score at 9-all going into the fourth quarter, where the Knights outscored Palo Alto 3-2 to secure the victory.
Hillsdale was led by Isaiah Yeager, who had a hand in eight goals. He scored four times and assisted on four others. Ari Zimmerman finished with eight saves in goal.
