Shall the office of city treasurer be appointive? Doing so will ensure additional requirements for the position and bring the city in line with other Peninsula cities who appoint the treasurer and have experienced no problems -- YES.
Measure L-San Mateo
To maintain and protect city services and facilities, such as street and sidewalk maintenance and repair, fire protection and emergency medical services, police protection, neighborhood watch and crime prevention programs, libraries, community centers, recreation programs and parks, shall the city of San Mateo be authorized to enact a one-quarter cent tax on sales for eight years, with all proceeds placed in the city's general fund with independent annual financial audits? YES.

This is a modest tax increase that residents will not pay for -- YES.
Measure U-San Carlos
To prevent further cuts and preserve funding for general city services, including fire protection, paramedics and 9-1-1 emergency response; police protection and crime prevention; street repair and maintenance; and avoiding closure or parks and sports fields, shall the city of San Carlos adopt an ordinance enacting a one-half cent transactions and use tax (sales tax), a general tax, for six years with independent annual audits? The city should have done a better job managing its finances and has embarked on ways to bring its expenses down. That effort should continue, but in the meantime, this measure is necessary to ensure cuts will not eliminate basic city services -- YES.
Measure V-San Carlos
Shall the office of city clerk be appointive? Doing so will ensure additional requirements for the position and bring the city in line with other Peninsula cities who appoint the clerk and have experienced no problems -- YES.
Measure W-Foster City
Should the terms allowed for members of the Foster City Council be increased from two full four-year terms in succession to three full four-year terms in succession? This measure does not eliminate term limits, but allows for more time for individual councilmembers to fulfill their goals and eliminates the need for a steep learning curve -- YES.
Measure X-Redwood City
Shall the City Charter be amended to create a seven-member Library Board, all to be appointed by the City Council and provide that the Library Board would establish rules for its proceedings and the City Council would set forth the authority and duties of the Library Board? This measure cleans up the city charter and brings oversight of the library director back to the City Council -- YES.
Measure Y-Redwood City
Should the rates of Redwood City's business license tax be increased by 16.67 percent per year (rounded to the nearest whole dollar amount) for each of the three successive fiscal years commencing on July 1, 2010; and then, commencing on July 1, 2013 and annually thereafter, be increased based upon the annual change in the Consumer Price Index? The city's business license tax has not been updated since 1994 and this measure will modernize the collection structure -- YES.
