We have some serious challenges facing San Mateo County Schools: lack of funding, rising cost of pensions and the high cost of living in San Mateo County that is compounded by the lack of affordable housing. We need to continue the history of strong and visionary leadership at the County Office of Education and I believe the person to do that is Dr. Gary Waddell.
Gary has served as Anne Campbell’s second in command and is in the best position to build on her track record of success and take our county schools to the next level. He is a champion for equitable schools that serve the needs of ALL students and this has been demonstrated time and time again in his words and actions The achievement gap is critical issue that needs to be tackled head on as the majority of students in our schools are students of color. Gary has never been afraid to have those courageous conversations about race and equity on behalf of our students.
He has accumulated a wide and diverse body of endorsements, especially in the education community, and countless school board members from all over San Mateo County.
Please join me in voting Dr. Gary Waddell for San Mateo County superintendent of schools.
