The letters complaining about Jackie Speier running are fascinating. Not because the authors bemoan a lack of choice — I value choice, too — but because they blame her for us voters having fewer candidates to choose between.

And Mark - yet another tax to finance random candidates? Perhaps our current system, while far from perfect, may turn out to be less expensive. Somehow the woke candidates on city councils and the board of supervisors did not have a problem getting funding. And now we are stuck with them.
