Thank you for your coverage of the National Night. Out celebration at the 700 block of North Amphlett Boulevard in San Mateo Tuesday Night ("Once troubled block celebrates" in the Aug. 3 edition of the Daily Journal). With a good turnout of both young and old, the event was a huge success. We appreciate your support and reporting what can happen when a community comes together to prevent crime.
I especially want to recognize the San Mateo Police Department for adding a spirit of fun, comfort and safety. And to apartment owner Mark Hecht, you are awesome! Without Mr. Hecht, we would not have been able to pull this off. Thanks to the San Mateo Public Library for your presence with the book table and signing up residents for library cards. The residents truly appreciate your persistence in getting them to read, read, read. Finally, to the Peninsula Community Foundation, your investment in this project truly shows your investment in people.
The Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center is proud to be part of these efforts and hopes to see crime-fighting/community building projects in more neighborhoods across San Mateo County.
