Editor,
Thank you Jack Daane, “Apathy wins” Feb. 1 letter, indicates the November election hardly a mandate for Trump as he and his cult claim.
Have wondered since Nov. 5 how America possibly voted Trump in again after four years of incompetence, cruelty, disrespect, two impeachments, multiple lies, criminal charges, allegations of sexual assault, 34 convicted felonies, hoarding top intelligence security document’s, inciting an insurrection to accomplish a coup in turning over a valid election, then conducting a shadow presidency for another four years.
Now, in spite of many warnings we received, facts we know without a doubt, and saw on live TV with our own eyes, he is president again.
He’s already joked about attempting to change our constitution so he can have three terms. He is currently governing in an extreme authoritarian manner.
Make no mistake, there was no mandate for his, or the Project 2025 agenda when as The University of Florida’s reports (ironically Florida being his own home state) findings show the largest amount of voters stayed home, didn’t vote, their apathy outweighed their intellect to preserve our democracy.
Like Benjamin Franklin said when asked what type of government we have after The Constitutional Convention of 1787, His answer … “a Republic, if you can keep it”.
Well sadly the 37.4% of apathetic eligible registered voters on Nov. 5, may have unknowingly decided for all of us that we’re not able to keep our democratic republic.
But don’t misconstrue this as a Trump mandate!

Linda - before the election, 78% of the voters said that the country was on the wrong course. Had the Democrats come up with a viable candidate, we could have had another person in the WH. Instead, your ilk supported one who was committed to keeping us on the devastating track. The mandate was clear, anyone but Harris please!
Ms. Lara, opting to not vote is in itself, a form of voting. By choosing not to vote, these folks are signaling that they’re okay with whoever is voted in by others. Don’t confuse your definition of voter apathy with Trump not having a mandate, because he does. BTW, if you want to be taken seriously in the future, please don’t cite the debunked insurrection. It signals everyone that you’re still infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome and are willing to lie about anything and everything to recycle easily debunked talking points. Have a Trump-tastic day!
