Worry about Iran’s weapons
Editor,
Frank Scafani (letters, Nov. 22) wonders why the free world is so worried about Iran developing nuclear power, thus allowing them to develop "parity with the rest of the world.”
Here are just a few thoughts why that may not be a good idea. Iran, relentlessly denying the Nazi Holocaust, threatens to annihilate Israel and Jewish citizens with nuclear weapons. Iran has funded terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah, and others, which have targeted and killed Americans.
Iran stones its women to death for the crime of adultery and executes its homosexual citizens. I wonder if Mr. Scafani will rest easier at night knowing that Iran (having "parity with the rest of the world”) can use its nuclear weapons and missiles to destroy the adulterous women, the flagrant homosexuals, the Jews, the Christians and the other infidels who inhabit America?

Graphic posters not
targeted to children
Editor,
This is a response to Daniel Brown’s letter from Nov. 18
Daniel bases his premises on the recent problem I had at Saint Matthew Catholic Church on Norte Dame Avenue, where I was parking my truck mounted with graphic posters to go to the 8:15 a.m. mass before going to the abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood.
Well, I have been parking at Notre Dame Avenue, which is public parking, for the past six years. The parents that are now using Notre Dame Avenue to bring their children to school started only two years ago. So, if I may say, this is more then ample proof that I never started parking at Notre Dame Avenue for the sole purpose of targeting children.
I would like to mention again that my graphic posters of dead babies, by the cruel act of abortion, do not affect children at all. In my eighteen years of pro-life service, I have never had anyone approach me with medical proof that my graphic posters have harmed their children in any way. In truth, the graphic posters affect the mothers who have had an abortion and the people who are pro-choice, period.
Next, I do not think Daniel was very fair and charitable to say that I had a mental disorder and to say that my behavior is child abuse. I consider this statement mean spirited, judgmental, and far from the truth.
In my eighteen years of pro-life service, I have given my time, money and energy in effort to prevent women considering an abortion and giving them information to make an informed decision, and to prevent them from the making the worst mistake of their life by having an abortion, the ultimate of child abuse.
Lastly, by the way Daniel, do you believe that a woman has the right to choose an abortion, the very ultimate abuse of an innocent child?

Coach Mazz lives
in our memories
Editor,
First of all I would like to congratulate you and all the staff of the Daily Journal for the terrific effort to keep us with the local news and inform the good and sad news that goes around in our community. I was very surprised when I read this Tuesday about the sudden loss of coach Rich Mazzoncini. I was involved as a coach for soccer for freshmen and sophomores during the season 1995-1996, and it was the positive way he always came across of any difficult times, and he gave me that support when things didn’t work. The School Board coach meetings were positive for the sport program, to gear and keep a good year and the entire group of coaches were together and we gave feedback, but most of all a good friendship that lasted for long time and kept me in touch for some time. The last four years I lost track due to change of my work times. I will miss him, but he left a good spirit in so many players and friends, that we never forgot. Long live Coach Mazz in the memories of so many players and friends that are touched with his positive and fun ways. Thank you, editor, for all the good information. Happy Holidays for you and the staff.

Buy the beef
bacon, not Israel
Editor,
Maybe Pat Gray and small minds should shop carefully in their department store meat markets or butcher shops and purchase a side of beef bacon, a good nutritious substitute for Israel, our family and friends if they consume it carefully? I am sure U.S. Rep. Tom Lantos understands the difference. In the meantime, our cattle ranchers would welcome showers and good weather for their herds to have a Green Party in their pastures next spring. Common sense always told me to walked around cow pies instead of hiding papers under them to measure their depth.
