Unfortunately, it's not terribly surprising that a 6-year-old Scotts Valley boy was recently attacked by a tiger during a school assembly. Tigers and other exotic animals have injured or killed several individuals in numerous attacks in circuses, zoos, traveling exhibits, and breeding facilities.
Captive exotic animals go insane from the lack of freedom, companionship, exercise, and stimulation that they must endure. They are deprived of the ability to follow their natural instincts to roam and socialize with other members of their species. Tigers like the one who attacked the young boy at Baymonte Christian School almost always have their claws removed. Declawing robs a cat of the ability to carry out important natural behaviors and makes them excessively fearful because their natural defense has been taken away. Many declawed cats turn to biting as a means of defending themselves.
Being carted around from location to location and constantly being put on display is no life for a big cat
