Edmond J. Atelian Jr. died unexpectedly on Wednesday May 14, 2008 of natural causes at his home in Santa Barbara.
He was 48 years old.
Eddie, was the son of Rose and Ed Atelian Sr., the father of Eddie J. Atelian III and the brother to Kenny, Marianne, Debbie, Robert, Tanya and Jaymie Atelian and the partner of Cynthia A. Ziemer.
Born in Los Angeles on June 4, 1959, Eddie was the fourth child and was a shy and inquisitive youngster. He grew to be a natural athlete who loved to snow ski, water ski, play baseball and golf. The Atelian family moved to San Carlos in 1963. Eddie attended Brittan Acres Elementary School, Tierra Linda Junior High and San Carlos High School. Eddie played baseball and football in high school for Coach Cohen and for many years at Burton Park.
In 1976, the Atelian family moved to Santa Barbara. There, Eddie worked on the family ranch Vista Del Mundo, running heavy machinery. Eddie has since worked for his good friends JV and Lucinda Varner as a site manager in their film and print location company.
As the years passed the family grew, but all the Atelian children remained in Santa Barbara close to their ever-expanding family. Eddie was especially close to his big bother Kenny and the two found time for a weekly round of golf. Ed and Rose Atelian instilled a love of travel in each one of their children and so Eddie traveled throughout the world. One of his best traveling buddies was his big sister Marianne.
Eddie was the proud father of 20-year-old "Little Eddie.” As a father, he shared his adventurous and outgoing spirit and his love of camping, fishing and boating with his son. The two even shared a birthday skydiving trip.
The Atelian family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of sympathy for their loss and for all the wonderful memories that they will forever carry in their hearts.
Eddie is survived by his son, Edmond J. Atelian III, his parents Rose and Ed Atelian Sr., his partner Cynthia Ziemer and his brother and sisters and their families: Kenny, Susie, Justin, Brandon, Taylor Atelian; Marianne Atelian; Debbie (Atelian), Tim, Brittney, Kyle Foley; Robert, Kathy, Cole, Luke Atelian, Tanya Atelian, Jaymie (Atelian), Mark, Jaxson Derscheid, his grandmother Carmen Zapata, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday May 22 at the Santa Barbara Cemetery on Channel Drive.
