Claire Leandra Pawlas McVay died peacefully at home April 7 at the age of 94.
She was born Feb. 27, 1921, in San Francisco and married Wade McVay Nov. 8, 1942. She worked for Bank of America, the Quartermaster Core at Fort Mason, in the Rectory of IHM for 12 years, Ralston Florist, Bonnie Brae and Anver’s For Hair. Claire was professed to the Order of Secular Franciscan, June 11, 2006.
Claire is survived by her brother Lee Pawlas; son Jeffrey McVay, his wife Jeri, her son Douglas McVay and her daughter Dale Etz and her husband Bryan; grandchildren Melissa Cardinale and her husband Robert, Aislinn Thomas and her husband Michael, Rebecca Cameron and her husband Kellen, and Victoria McVay; and great-grandchildren Haley, Bianca and one on the way.
Visitation is 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, April 10 with a 7 p.m. rosary, at Crippen & Flynn, 1111 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont. A funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1040 Alameda de la Pulgas, Belmont, reception to follow in St. Michael’s Hall. In lieu of flowers, Claire has requested donations to St. Clare’s Retreat, 2381 Laurel Glen Road, Soquel, CA 95073.
