COSTA MESA — A California college student who secretly videotaped his instructor making anti-Trump statements was suspended and told to write a letter of apology and an essay about the incident.
Orange Coast College suspended Caleb O’Neil for the current semester and the summer term, saying he violated policy prohibiting recording someone on district property without that person’s consent.
O’Neil’s video clips of instructor Olga Perez Stable Cox in December went viral. The Orange County Register reports Cox called the election of Donald Trump “an act of terrorism” and declared that those “leading the assault are among us.”
William Becker, an attorney representing O’Neil, tells the newspaper the 19-year-old plans to appeal and can continue to attend classes during that process.
O’Neil, who campaigned for Trump, couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday.
