Michael Ross
A 68-year-old San Mateo resident has been charged with possession of more than 600 images and videos of child pornography, San Mateo County district Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The man, Michael Ross, indicated he has been a 20-year substitute teacher in the county on his website, Wagstaffe said. No information was available about what schools he might have taught at throughout that tenure.
Ross said during a March 18 hearing that he had stopped tutoring children as of last week, Wagstaffe said. The child pornography was allegedly found on his computer on Feb. 11.
He faces up to four years in prison if convicted, Wagstaffe said, and is being held on a $100,000 bail.
Because of his background as a tutor and teacher, the Sheriff’s Office encouraged anyone with any information about the crimes to come forward.
