A San Mateo man was taken into custody Thursday after an argument in which he allegedly smashed his roommate’s car window while intoxicated, police said.
Officers responded around 2:54 p.m. on Thursday to the 3000 block of La Selva Circle after receiving a report of vandalism, the San Mateo Police Department said.
When officers arrived, they found the rear window of the victim’s vehicle smashed and a brake rotor lying inside the car, resulting in $2,500 in damage, authorities noted.
Police identified the suspect as 36-year-old Walter Pirircanel, the victim’s roommate. Officers said Pirircanel appeared intoxicated when they contacted him at the residence.
Pirircanel was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
