San Mateo County will host a career especially for veterans, military personnel and their families who may be interested in the public service sector in Redwood City on Friday, March 1.
More than 40 employers will be at the career fair including the county, SamTrans, San Francisco Department of Public Health, Bay Area Rapid Transit Agency, East Palo Alto Police, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, colleges and other local state and federal agencies.
“As a veteran, I understand the sacrifices and challenges that come with military life, and I am committed to supporting our veterans and their families in every way possible,” Board of Supervisors President Warren Slocum, who is helping sponsor the fair, said in a press release. “Those veterans and military personnel transitioning to civilian life bring skills with them that are highly valued in the civilian workforce — demonstrated leadership, teamwork and resilience.”
Free counseling, resume reviews and opportunities to take professional head shots will also be offered at the fair being hosted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 1 at 501 Winslow St. Admission to the fair is free but advanced registration is required.
“By connecting them with meaningful employment opportunities, we not only express gratitude for their service but also invest in the strength and prosperity of our communities,” Rocio Kiryczun, director of the County’s Human Resources Department, said. “Together, we honor their invaluable skills and experiences, fostering pathways to success as we invest in brighter futures for all.”
