Jamillah Moore has been tabbed to serve as the new president of CaƱada College, under a recent decision by the San Mateo County Community College District Board of Trustees.
Following a national search which led to an interview of 47 candidates, board President Dave Mandelkern announced Thursday, June 9, in a press release Moore would serve as the Redwood City schoolās 11th president. Moore formerly served as the districtās vice chancellor of Educational Services and Planning.
Mandelkern expressed confidence Moore would be the best qualified to lead the community college.
āFrom a strong field of candidates, the board has selected an experienced, talented and dedicated community college educator to lead CaƱada College,ā Mandelkern said. āWe believe president-elect Moore will continue CaƱadaās strong tradition of providing leading-edge educational opportunities and support services that help ensure student success.ā
Moore has also worked as a teacher and administrator in Los Angeles, Sacramento and a variety of other communities throughout the state prior to joining the community college district.
She graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in multicultural education, and has a masterās degree in intercultural communication and public policy from California State University Sacramento, where she also earned a degree in communications.
