A 28-year-old man accused of shooting from a vehicle in Redwood City Sunday evening pleaded not guilty to all charges Tuesday in San Mateo County Superior Court, prosecutors said.
Juan Carlos Campos, a resident of Redwood City, was identified by witnesses as a suspect who allegedly fired multiple gunshots out of the rear window of a vehicle in two separate shootings on Page Street, starting around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Police stopped a car matching the vehicle’s description roughly two hours later and allegedly found Campos in the back seat with casings on the floor, but no gun was found, prosecutors said.
Investigators believe the shootings to be gang-related.
Campos will be represented by the county Private Defender Program, but as of Wednesday morning a specific attorney had not yet been assigned to handle his case or comment on his behalf.
Campos will return to court for a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. on Aug. 14. He remains in custody on $75,000 bail.
There's way to much crime here. And, of course, we rarely read if the perp is in the country legally or not. I guess that makes sense when you consider we encourage all unvetted, unidentified illegals to settle here.
