• San Mateo County Community College District Trustee Dave Mandelkern formally announced Tuesday his candidacy for the office of county tax collector/treasurer which voters will decide in the June 8 election. Mandelkern previously told the Daily Journal his intention to run but Tuesday held a cyber-press conference to kick off his run and announce more than 32 endorsements including state Assemblyman Ira Ruskin, fellow district board trustees Helen Hausman, Richard Holober, Patricia Miljanich and Karen Schwarz, Redwood City School District trustees Shelly Masur and Dennis McBride, San Mateo Union High School District Trustee Dave Pine, former state assemblyman and county supervisor Ted Lempert and former state controller Steve Westly.
Mandelkern’s announced opponents are former Burlingame mayor Joe Galligan, deputy tax collector/treasurer Sandie Arnott and investment advisor Richard Guilbault.
• Los Angeles Treasurer and Tax Collector Mark Saladino and San Francisco Treasurer Jose Cisneros have endorsed Sandie Arnott for tax collector/treasurer. Arnot is currently the deputy tax collector/treasurer and acting assistant tax collector of San Mateo County.
