San Mateo County will be holding an Art in Education Summit on Monday, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The event will include keynote speakers Barry Hessenium, the director of the California Arts Council as well as additional participation from Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, Congressman Tom Santos, San Mateo County Supervisor Mary Griffin and a list of other local officials.
The Summit is a joint venture by the Arts Council of San Mateo County, the Silicon Valley Network, the Peninsula Community Foundation, Hiller Aviation Museum, and the Latino Leadership Council.
It will take place at 1219 Ralston Ave. in the city of Belmont.
The purpose of the event is to bring together various representatives to develop an arts agenda in county schools. They will collectively begin to identify and develop recommendations for arts education based on needs and available resources.
