Notre Dame-Belmont (4-8-1) went 0-1-1 on the opening day of the Westmont/Los Gatos Tournament, settling for a 5-5 final against Santa Teresa-San Jose after letting a 5-1 lead get away in the final inning.
NDB broke a 1-all tie the bottom of the third on a two-run double from Emma Hogan. The Tigers scored twice more in the fourth, but Santa Teresa (3-6-2) sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the sixth, with senior Grace Anderson tying it on a two-out, two-run triple.
The Tigers let two leads slip away against Los Gatos (9-1). NDB took a. 2-0 lead in the first, capped by an RBI single from Molly Hipps. After the Wildcats tied it in the second, NDB went back ahead on an RBI grounder from Allie Dorn. But Los Gatos ralied back in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Tessa Lilienstein to tie it, and took the lead later in the inning when Lilienstein scored on an infield error.
Santa Teresa 10, Carlmont 9
Los Gatos 8, Carlmont 1
Carlmont (3-8-1) dropped two games at the Westmont/Los Gatos Tournament, letting an early 8-1 lead slip away against Santa Teresa-San Jose (4-6-2) before falling to host Los Gatos (10-1). Freshman Sophia Kan paced the Lady Scots, going 3 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs over both games. Los Gatos clubbed two home runs, including a three-run blast by winning pitcher Ava Norquist.

Terra Nova 10, Castilleja 0
Sophomore right-hander Bonnie Barrango had a fine day both sides of the ball for the Tigers (5-3), firing a three-hit shutout in the circle while going a perfect 3 for 3 with three doubles and five RBIs at the dish in a non-league home win over Castilleja (2-5). Terra Nova shortened the game to five innings via mercy-rule, walking it off on an RBI single from Emma Bailey. Barrango walked one and struck out five to earn the win, upping her record to 2-2. At the plate, she is 7 for 14 on the year while slashing .500/.731/.929.
Sequoia 11, El Camino 1
Seniors Nisha Mehta and Jamie Elkington had three hits apiece, and junior Grace Taylor delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the fifth as Sequoia (4-4) won via mercy-rule at home in non-league play against El Camino (2-5). Taylor earned the win, navigating four hit batsmen to pitch five innings, allowing one run on two hits, while striking out five. Her record improves to 2-0. Mehta launched a two-run home run in the third inning, her first of the year, and totaled three RBIs. Elkington upped her average to .615 with three doubles and an RBI.
Menlo-Atherton 15, South City 8
A right, rowdy back-and-forth game with five lead changes was tied 8-all in the seventh, when Menlo-Atherton (8-2) sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the inning amid a seven-run rally in non-league play at South City. Sophomore Olivia Rodgers set the table with a one-out single, then stole second and third before scoring on a throwing error. The Bears totaled 11 steals in the game. Senior Molly Rosen paced M-A with four hits, including an RBI, while freshman Lavietani Taufahema fell a single shy of the cycle with a double, a triple, a home run and an RBI. Sophomore Madyson Jade Quintanilla clubbed her sixth home run of the year for the Warriors (4-7).
San Mateo 11, St. Ignatius 6
Trailing 5-1, San Mateo (7-3) swung its way ahead with a five-run fourth and added five more in the fifth to claim a non-league home win against St. Ignatius-SF (3-7). The Bearcats took the lead on a two-run single from junior Demi Alfonso in the fourth. Sophomore Rachel Warner added a single and three RBIs, while junior Alice Han went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Junior right-hander Celia Hernandez earned the win, improving her record to 6-3.
