With the game deadlocked at the end of regulation, Alpine rallied for five runs in the seventh to claim a win through the winners’ bracket against Foster City at Trinta Park.
Alpine sparked a two-out rally in the seventh when Martin Breslin singled. He later scored on a wild pitch, Bodhi Bedner scored on an infield error, and Simeon Ouellette-Massiou delivered the crippling blow with a bases-loaded double to drive home Garrett Weiss, Jack Chambers and Teddy Hourigan.
Relief pitcher Patrick Breslin closed it out, working three scoreless innings to earn the win. Breslin entered with Alpine leading 2-1 in the fifth, and allowed one inherited runner to score, but got a big out with a rundown between third and home, and closed the door to strand two Foster City runners on base in the inning.
Charles Saste led the Alpine offense, going 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, and scoring the first run of the game in the second on an infield error.
Connor Chapeton paced Foster City with a 2-for-3 day.
Alpine advances to play in the winners’ bracket semifinal Saturday against Hillsborough at 10:30 a.m.
