Alpine 5, Menlo-Atherton 2
Alpine won its fourth straight through the elimination bracket, ousting Menlo-Atherton at District Field.
With the game tied 2-2 in the third, Gavin Arditi worked a bases-loaded walk to force home Connor Murphy with the go-ahead run. Alpine scored twice more in the fifth on a two-run single from Ryan Cohen.
Cohen was 2 for 2 with a walk and two RBIs. M-A totaled just two hits, with singles from Elliot Kundinger and Dom Napoli.
Alpine relievers Nixon Strick and Greyson Davis combined for four no-hit, scoreless innings of relief to close it out. Strick earned the win, working 1 1/3 innings, allowing three walks and striking out one. Davis notched the save with 2 2/3 innings, entering with one on and two out in the fourth and inducing an inning-ending double play. He went on to retire all seven batters he faced.
Alpine starting pitcher Luca McIntyre bounced back after a two-run first to work two innings and take a no decision. Henry Smith and Ryder Braniff pitched for M-A.
In other action: San Mateo National advanced to the championship round with a 17-6 win over Pacifica at District Field.
