Redwood City 8, Palo Alto 7
Redwood City persevered in a wild back-and-forth battle in extra innings, with Ansel Tort using his legs to delivered the walk-off win in an elimination game over Palo Alto at Red Morton Park in Redwood City. Tort singled with one out in the eighth, then proceeded to steal second and advance to third and home on passed balls.
RWC totaled 12 hits in the game. Tort was 2 for 3, with Noah Reif leading the way going 3 for 3 with a double. Marko Axtman also had two hits with a double and a triple, and Cole Joliet totaled two RBIs. Victor and Huxley Hernandez combined to go 3 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs scored at the plate for Palo Alto.
The game saw six lead changes with RWC scoring in every inning but the sixth. San Carlos swung to a 4-3 lead in the fourth on Reif’s RBI single, and added a run in the fifth. But Palo Alto rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth. With RWC trailing 7-5 in the seventh, Reif led off with a double and later scored on a Joliet single. Benjamin Tomatis then scored on a passed ball with two outs to tie it.
Dean Joya earned the win in relief, allowing two runs on three hits over 2 2/3 innings. Joya struck out three.
RWC advances to play San Carlos in an elimination game Tuesday.
Palo Alto went 0-2 in the tournament. Their roster includes Luke Boswell, Edward Chen, Bennett Clifton, Antonio Collet, Victor Hernandez, Huxley Hernandez, Roman Kimble, Carter Quintero, Andrew Reed, Cal Robles, Niko Thomsen and Lev Weinstein.

San Carlos 9, Menlo-Atherton 5
With the game deadlocked 5-5 in the seventh, San Carlos rallied for four runs in its final at-bat to advanced through the elimination bracket at Red Morton Park. Liam Pinelli, Robbie Davies and Julian Levenson led off the inning with three straight singles to load the bases, and Mason Stevick gave San Carlos the lead with a two-run single.
Davis earned the win with two shutout innings of relief in the sixth and seventh, and Logan Deitrich closed it out with a scoreless eighth.
Stevick went 2 for 2 with a walk and three RBIs, while Pinelli, Davis and Levenson totaled two hits apiece. M-A was paced by two hits apiece from Timothy Shenk and Austin Cooley, while Julian Gilmartin had a double and two RBIs.
San Carlos jumped ahead with a four-run first, but Menlo-Atherton fired back with five runs in the third to take the lead. Gilmartin put his team ahead with a two-run double to score Mazon Zwerin and Shenk. San Carlos tied it in the fourth on a Stevick single to right to plate Pinelli.
San Carlos now advances to play Redwood City in an elimination game Tuesday at Red Morton Park.
Menlo-Atherton went 0-2 in the tournament. Their roster includes Cooley, Gilmartin, Shenk, Zwerin, Paxton Cunningham, Tristan Goudey, Nelson Gutierrez, Thomas Jaramillo Lopez, Matteo Loar, Hunder Moulds, Conor Robe and Jax Young.
