College of San Mateo left-hander Jared Milch kept pace through the middle innings and his offense rewarded him with a big finish.
The Bulldogs (9-5, 22-11) broke a 2-2 deadlock with two runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth and Milch powered through eight innings in CSM’s 9-2 victory Thursday at Bulldog Stadium.
Milch was touched for single runs in the second and third as De Anza (6-8, 17-16) took an early 2-0 lead. CSM tied it in the bottom of the third though with a sac fly from Everett Lau and an RBI single from Angelo Bortolin.
Lau gave CSM the lead in the seventh with an RBI single and matched Bortolin with four RBIs on the day.
Milch allowed two runs on six hits to improve his record to 8-1. The sophomore out of Terra Nova ranks fifth in the state among qualifying community college starters with a 1.72 ERA.
