Editor,
On Aug. 30, eight of the San Mateo Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s Youth Group members attended U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin’s town hall at the Burlingame Community Center. We were given the opportunity to speak with Congressman Mullin and would like to sincerely thank him for listening to our student voices. Additionally, we thank him for joining the Climate Solutions Caucus, a bipartisan group of legislators supported by CCL who work to combat climate change.

You high school students really need to stop this "climate change" garbage. You are just willing idiots to powers you have zero ability to understand because you dont know the value of a dollar. You have no business telling any adult how to live their lives and quite frankly - its disgusting and offensive to me that you think you have the right to do that. Stuff your whole organization in the trash - its where it belongs. I get that you GenZ kids hate the God given freedoms and liberty America was built upon because you are all atheists - but that doesnt change history. Bolshevik Biden and his handlers have been trying to rewrite history and using idealistic dummies like you to further their control. Wake up and be the best you that you can be. Find meaning internally rather than externally. You are wasting your soul and your energy in this fake climate religion. You are an atheist - but you still worship at an altar. Your parents need to do a much better job raising you before you go to college and become lost forever.
They have been indoctrinated and terrified since a young age. Many actually think the world will end in 10 years or so unless we "do something". And think that dumb local ideas like banning gas stoves in San Mateo will have an impact on the world's climate.
Its really sad that their parents think fear is a successful tactic - all they are doing is robbing their children of the gifts they have to offer the world.
If these fools really believe the world is coming to an imminent end, why did the cities waste millions on a seawall in Foster City and San Mateo? That was to prevent floods by 2090, go figure. These folks are just instigating fear among our youth so that they are easier to control. What floors me is that many weak-kneed parents are going along.
In January 2019 renowned climate physicist AOC said that we have 12 years left before earth ceases to exist. I, like many others are counting on these children to save planet earth, they only have 7 years and there months.
Nikki, I’d be interested in what your student voices were voicing and whether it would make a difference in the big scheme of things. After all, we have plenty of people talking the talk about climate change but we don’t hear much of anyone walking the walk to combat it. Witness the upcoming COP conference to be held in Saudi Arabia (of all places). Will 400+ carbon-spewing jets make the trip over there, as in past COP conferences? Or do these folks get a pass from burning as much fossil-fuels as they want? Your student voices can continue lecturing to others, but it won’t make a difference in the big scheme of things if nobody does anything.
Terrence, I'm sure these feel gooders bought some carbon offsets, soon to be a commodity on the NYSE.
Carbon offsets have been a commodity for years. Some compnies bought them early on and traded when the price went up. It is a scam as it was converted in California to Cap and Trade. It has done nothing to reduce our carbon footprint but it has made commodity futures traders very rich at the consumers' expense.
