A 21-year-old San Mateo man found guilty of residential burglary and assault with a deadly weapon for attacking a man inside his home was sentenced to one year in county jail and three years probation Wednesday, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Juan Galicia Lopez remains in custody, and has earned 232 days credit for time served, Wagstaffe said. The prosecutor sought two years in prison, but the presiding judge denied doing so because of the major role alcohol played in the case, Wagstaffe said.
