Editor,

There are no laws regulating the installation of cell towers in San Mateo. Telecom companies are in a race to install a cell tower on every block in every residential neighborhood and business area of our city. The telecoms have admitted that these towers are needed to advance 5G networks which require the towers be closer to customers. 5G has not been developed and tested so why all the rush? The answer is simple, if the telecom does not substantially change the dimensions of a 4G tower, they can quickly upgrade it to 5G without providing any notice to residents.
