Editor,

I’m writing about the “SamTrans Beefs Up Safety ... “ article. Not one word about the safety of the commuters — just the bus drivers. Can someone explain to me why there is a sign on the SamTrans (and MUNI) buses that harassing/attacking a driver is a crime — but nothing is mentioned about harassing your fellow commuter?

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Lyulkin. Another reason to not ride SamTrans. But if one must, make sure you sit where there’s nobody at your back. We don’t want a repeat of the Iryna Zarutska incident in North Carolina to occur here. And perhaps carry pepper spray or some other tool with which you can defend yourself from scofflaws.
