I would like to thank the Bay Meadows Land Company for hosting the recent Bastille Day Celebration and Street Fair at Park Place in San Mateo. This wonderful event benefited the San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation, raising over $2,500 for our public schools.
The San Mateo-Foster City Community Education Foundation is a non-profit volunteer organization made up of parents and community members. We are dedicated to raising funds to provide enrichment programs in our 16 elementary and four middle schools.
The French themed street fair was not only a success for our foundation but was great fun for the entire community. Park Place was the perfect venue to enjoy the beautiful day as hundreds of people wandered through the many booths selling flowers, pastries, art and jewelry. Left Bank Restaurant, located along Park Place, supported the event with a barbecue lunch and Whole Foods provided delicious wine and cheese tasting ... all of this while listening to French musicians as they strolled through the fair. When the children weren't playing in the fountain to cool off in the heat they were having their faces painted, their portraits sketched or listening to French stories being told - or maybe having a balloon animal sculpted for them while a mime strolled by.
It was a terrific day and we are grateful to the Bay Meadows Land Company for developing the idea and hosting this event as well as Left Bank, Whole Foods, the San Mateo Public Library and the many artisans that demonstrated a real commitment to the 10,000 children of the San Mateo and Foster City public schools.
