Editor,
Regarding the Sept. 15 story by the Associated Press’ Jonathan J. Cooper “California bill protecting immigrants clear hurdle,” I just do not understand where legislators are so willing to allow illegals to remain in the United States.

Editor,
Regarding the Sept. 15 story by the Associated Press’ Jonathan J. Cooper “California bill protecting immigrants clear hurdle,” I just do not understand where legislators are so willing to allow illegals to remain in the United States.
If a person is here illegally, they should be given a limited amount of time to become a citizen of the United States of America. If, after that time, they cannot provide citizenship, they should be deported. As for providing money for legal assistance and college scholarships for people living illegally in the United States, I find that totally out of place. Government does not do that for the citizens, so why do it for someone who is not? Why does America feel that we owe all the “freebies” to illegals and not our own? Is it not bad enough that we have depleted our Social Security benefits because they have been subsidizing those here illegally and those who have not put their fair share into it?
Government doesn’t even support our veterans who risked their lives for our freedom, yet they are busting their butts to subsidize those here illegally. Where is the logic to these decisions? It is time that legislators stop “kissing butts for votes” and put their reasoning to the right uses.
Again, give those here illegally time to become a citizen or deport them. And stop giving away everything we have worked for to provide for our future and our families’ future, not for those who have not.

Good letter with only one exception: there is no justification for allowing an illegal alien in the U.S. a chance to gain citizenship. Other than that, this letter is spot-on, unfortunately. CA has seriously undercut the value of American citizenship while at the same time placed millions of Californians at greater risk of harm by becoming a bigger magnet for ms-13 and other foreign criminal gangs to set-up shop in the neighborhoods of Burlingame, San Mateo...etc. The liberals have the blood of every American injured by an illegal alien on their hands. Despicable.
And let's not forget the churches want illegals to fill their pews and provide donations and the DNC wants illegals to vote in order to keep their stranglehold on CA's twisted political agenda.
You're right, Mike. Btw, towns across America are allowing illegal's to vote and yes, that's a fact. The invasion is well underway...
