Courage and fortitude have never been the exclusive province of an older generation. Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen and heard from our country’s younger generation who have been demonstrating, speaking out and writing from their hearts about the need for responsible gun regulation.
In another excellent column in the Daily Journal’s “Student News” Charlie Chapman writes of his experience in advocating for a citizen’s second amendment right to bear arms for self protection (“Respecting All Perspectives”) in the April 7 and 8 edition of the Daily journal. Chapman’s column is admirable not only for his calm and reasoned arguments for an individual to have and use a weapon in self defense but also for taking a strong independent stand on a very contentious and emotional issue.
Well done, Charlie Chapman. May you never lose your determination to do what you feel is right and may all of the days ahead be good to you.
