Steven Abrams, age 53, of Millbrae California, died suddenly in his parents’ home in Millbrae on Thursday December 28th, 2017. Steve was born on February 1st, 1964 in New London, Connecticut to Robert and Carol Abrams. He has one brother Michael and his family loved and cared about him very much. Steve grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and after graduation decided to travel the world. The Arts became his passion and after his travels he attended Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Steve also loved to read and collect rare books. One of his favorite jobs after graduation was working at the Strand Bookstore in New York City researching, preserving, and repairing antique books.
Steve’s other passions were cartooning and creating art. Steve designed the logo for the Millbrae History Museum as well as a number of other works of art that were used for commercial purposes. He worked as a staff writer for Felix the Cat Comics and wrote a number of published comic strips over the years that were featured in Pulse Magazine. For the last 13 years, Steve worked for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" writing show summaries for Jimmy and he also appeared in numerous skits on the show.
Most importantly, Steve was a kind and caring person. Steve had made countless close friends over the years, from his travels and from his other pursuits. He loved to help others and would always go out of his way to assist his friends. His friends and family are all devastated and deeply saddened by his passing and he will be greatly missed.
Steve loved dogs and donations in his memory can be made to the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.
A service for Steve will be held Saturday January 13th at 10AM at Skylawn in San Mateo.
