Stanley G. Plante died surrounded by his family at the age of 75. He was the beloved husband and friend of 53 years to Janet, devoted father to Stephen, Robert and Renee, and a wonderful grandfather to Nicole, Brooke and Brittany. He is also survived by many neices and nephews who will miss his kindness, compassion, sense of humor and sense of fairness, which he showed to everyone. But most of all, his gentle spirit will be missed.
Stan was born in Bathgate, ND, to Aldamas and Cleo, next to the last of 9 children. His remaining siblings are Vivian of Neche, ND and George of South San Francisco, CA. He came with his parents and family to San Francisco at age 9. He went to St. Peter & Paul elementary school and graduated from Galileo. Upon graduating he joined the Naval Reserve, and was drafted into the Korean War at age 19. He spent two years traveling the Orient. After that he joined Columbia Geneva Steel, which then became U.S. Steel. He went to school at the University of San Francisco at nights on the G.I. bill, and studied to be an accountant. He then went to work for the San Mateo County for over 30 years. Stan was chief of the business division when he retired. He also had a successful tax business that lasted 35 years and many clients became friends over the years.
In his leisure time he would go to his cabin in Arnold, which he loved. His children, and especially granddaughters, enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed travelling.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Robert’s Catholic Church, Oak Avenue and Crystal Springs Road in San Bruno. Committal followed at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetary in Colma.
