The life of Robert L. Sims will be celebrated at a memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Congregational Church of Belmont, 751 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont.
Sims, a longtime member of the church, died March 13, 2018, in Bozeman, Montana, where he and his wife Belinda moved two years ago to be close to family. A small group of friends and relatives gathered March 24 for a service in the chapel at Bozeman Lodge, where they lived.
Bob was born Aug. 17, 1930, to Henrietta Soltermann Sims and James Sims of Peoria, Illinois, and moved to California after attending high school and college in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord and then went to work for United Airlines at San Francisco International Airport where he was a load planner.
He met and married Belinda Wolfe on Oct. 17, 1971. After retirement, he loved to travel and indulge his longtime passion — stamp collecting, bird watching and story telling.
Bob is survived by his wife Belinda; his daughter Sandy and grandson John of Fargo, North Dakota, and 10 relatives in Bozeman.
The family prefers memorial donations to the Music Fund of the Congregational Church of Belmont or any charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
