She was 83.
She was born Dec. 14, 1930 in Oaklandon, IN to Eugene M. and Ethel M. (Kneer) Peters. Maja retired in 1996 from California Savings and Loan as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Don K. Peters. She is survived by her brother Thomas M. Peters (Jennie) of Monticello, IN; sister-in-law Carol S. Peters; nieces Donna K. Vail (Barry), Jeanna Hicks (Michael), Sara Peters-Phelps (Christian), Nancy Sneed; nephew David M. Peters (Sabrina); great-nephew Thomas Peters; and great-niece Sydney Peters. Maja was a member of Soroptimist International, San Francisco Chapter and Lighthouse for the Blind. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the San Francisco International Airport as a Travelers Aide and Filoli House and Gardens. A memorial service will be held at Seals Funeral Home, 122 W. Staat St., Fortville, IN on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:30 am with calling one hour prior to the service. An additional memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame, CA, of which she was a member, on June 12, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hemophilia of Indiana, Inc., 5172 E. 65th St., Suite 105, Indpls, IN 46220 or Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA, 1450 Rollins Rd., Burlingame, CA 94010.
