George R. “Dick” Green Photo

George R. “Dick” Green passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 104. He was born in October 1920 in Hornell, New York, and was the youngest of three children born to Glennis (Kenyon) Green and Paul Linden Green.

Dick attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, and in January of 1942 met Margaret “Maggie” Sullivan, who would become his wife in 1945. After graduating with a degree in Economics, Dick served in the U.S. Navy in WWII on the heavy cruiser USS Canberra. In 1950 he was recalled to active duty in the Korean War and assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. After the Korean War he commanded a group of reservists, eventually retiring from the Naval Reserve in 1968 with the rank of Commander.
