FRESNO — A Clovis man convicted of stabbing his father and stepmother to death has been sentenced to two life terms.
Fresno County Superior Court Judge Gary Hoff sentenced Phillip Woodley on Monday. Woodley was found guilty in April of two counts of first-degree murder in the July 2005 stabbings of 73-year-old Roy Woodley and his wife, 71-year-old Angela. Woodley was also convicted of robbery and burglary.
Jeffrey Rancour, a friend of Woodley’s, testified that Woodley hated his father and killed him and his stepmother while high on drugs.
The 31-year-old Rancour, who allegedly witnessed the attack, was sentenced to 18 years in prison in May after pleading no contest to two counts of manslaughter and other charges.
Family members on Monday asked that Woodley be sentenced to death, but Hoff said he didn’t have that option.
