A 34-year-old Daly City woman accused of running a prostitution operation in San Bruno and South San Francisco for close to two years is in custody on 20 felony pimping and pandering charges Tuesday after a yearslong investigation, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
With the help of a male accomplice who has not yet been arrested, Bei Yin is believed to have run prostitution operations out of two residences in San Bruno and one in South San Francisco between Nov. 4, 2016, to Sept. 18, 2018, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors said the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office ran a monthslong undercover investigation starting in 2016 on Backpage advertisements for sex on the 1100 block of Herman Street in San Bruno. In multiple surveillance operations, they observed numerous males entering the residence and leaving some 30 minutes later, according to prosecutors.
Investigators are said to have also conducted surveillance on another residence on Linden Avenue in South San Francisco and on Monday Yin was arrested on the 1000 block of Admiral Court in San Bruno, where she was allegedly operating another prostitution operation, according to prosecutors.
Yin pleaded not guilty to her charges when she appeared in court Tuesday and the county’s private defender program was appointed to her case. In custody on $450,000 bail, she will next appear in court May 30 for Superior Court review conference, according to prosecutors.
