Half Moon Bay greenhouse grower Rocket Farms ā a community staple for indoor flowering plants ā is relocating its wholesale facility to the propertyās greenhouse location and inviting customers to come in and enjoy the new space on Nov. 17.Ā
The Gate One location was where Rocket Farms originally hosted wholesalers and shoppers purchasing from its variety of blooming plants, herbs and greenery, Wholesaler Center Manager John Susa said.Ā
The reopening event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, with complimentary coffee from Mountain Mama Java.Ā
Rocket Farms is one of the largest greenhouse growers of indoor plants in the country, has been open since 1948, with wholesale growing facilities across California, including Salinas and Santa Maria. Its Half Moon Bay location, open since the 1960s, is the only facility where retail customers can come in and shop, Susa said.Ā
Those customers will be excited about the move back to the greenhouse, Susa said. For the last three to four years, sales have occurred in a warehouse on the property.Ā

During the holiday season, customers typically gravitate toward Rocket Farmsā bevy of festive greenery, poinsettias and amaryllis. As the largest poinsettia grower on the West Coast, local customers have access to high-quality Christmas decor, and as such, the business typically gets busy this time of year, Susa said.Ā
āWeāre swamped,ā he said. āWe have Christmas trees, poinsettias, amaryllis, all the Christmas items ā garlands, wreaths.āĀ
Rocket Farms maintains a close connection to the local community, both in its retail customer base and its workforce, Susa said. Around 75% of those working with the plants that grow on-property are coastsiders.
