After coughing up an early four-run lead, Capuchino (3-10 PAL Bay, 13-13 overall) rallied back to win it 7-6 over Carlmont in extra innings Wednesday in San Bruno, snapping a six-game losing streak, all in PAL Bay Division baseball games.
Cruz Alfaro
Cruz Alfaro put his stamp on the comeback with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
Carlmont (7-6, 12-13) struck first in the ninth, jumping ahead 6-5 in the top of the frame on an RBI double from senior Ryan Weiss. But Cap answered right back. Junior Nathan Meyer led off the bottom of the inning with a single to right, and senior Jordan Estrella promptly tripled to tie it 6-all. On the very next pitch, Alfaro lined a single to right to end it. Alfaro was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Mustangs, while Fanara and senior William Ferreira each homered.
Meyer got the last two outs in the top of the ninth to earn the win, the first of his varsity career.
Jacob Shinseki went 2 for 5 with two RBIs for the Scots, Michael Nishikawa had two hits with a double and an RBI, and junior catcher Ryan Attard added two hits with a double.
