THOM, Jocelyn Louise
Jocelyn Louise Thom, 88, of San Carlos, California died peacefully January 22, 2019 at home surrounded by her beloved family.
Born March 3, 1930 in Medford, Oregon, Jocelyn was the daughter of Bruce Bauer and Ruth Fluhrer Bauer, the eldest of two daughters.
Jocelyn spent her childhood in Medford, OR., As a teen, she moved with her family to San Carlos where her father opened Bruce Bauer Lumber Co. in 1946. The family business still exists in Mountain View.
Jocelyn graduated from Sequoia High School in 1948 and attended San Jose State College. In her freshman year she was featured as a “Golden Girl” as the college yearbook celebrated the California Centennial. Gifted with a lovely soprano voice, she sang with various choral groups until she married.
On August 12, 1950, she married Donald Philip Thom who preceded her in death in January of 2014. Creating cherished memories, Don and “Joce” traveled extensively in their motorhome and enjoyed frequent trips to the Bauer family home on the Oregon Coast. They made trips abroad but their favorite was the time spent in Hawaii each May. They were married 64 years.
Her “boys” and her home always came first. An elegant lady, she saw the best in everyone. She was a wonderful homemaker, a gracious hostess, and fabulous cook. Their home saw many celebrations for friends and family.
