The San Mateo City Council approved the architectural firm who will build the new Library, Esherick, Homsey, Dodge and Davis (EHDD) in its Nov. 6 meeting. The Board of Trustees and the New Library Committee selected this firm to build the new library after reviewing a total of 10 proposals from architects and narrowed it down to three finalists. The committee then recommended the council approve EHDD. The total for the proposed project is estimated at $5,387,925. Voters approved a $35 bond measure to fund the library in November last year.

EHDD has received more than 75 national, regional, and local honors and awards for design excellence. EHDD has designed 15 libraries, including the Mountain View Public Library, the UCSF Campus Library and the Dorraine Zief Law Library at the University of San Francisco. EHDD also designed the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
