Police in Redwood City and Atherton cited 77 drivers for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, in a joint operation Wednesday.
Police from both departments carried out the Pedestrian Safety Operation at the intersections of El Camino Real and Finger Street, in Redwood City, and El Camino Real and Shelby Lane, in Atherton, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The operation targeted drivers who do not slow down and stop for pedestrians, according to a press release from the Redwood City Police Department.
One driver was also arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license and another was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant.
The California Office of Traffic Safety funded the operation with a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
