PAL individual tournament
Menlo-Atherton’s Tim Berthier, the top seed, will go for his second straight PAL singles title when he takes on teammate Jake Andrew, the No. 3 seed, in the PAL finals at 3:45 today at Burlingame.
After a first-round bye, Berthier has lost only 10 games over his next three matches, winning all in straight sets.
Andrew, who needed three sets to dispatch Aragon Daniel Duan in the quarterfinals, knocked off second-seeded Milad Shafaie in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-2.
Shafaie will take on Aragon’s Daniel Li, the No. 4 seed, in the third-place match.
On the doubles side, M-A’s top-seeded tandem of Zach Ostrow and Maksim Lukic will face Carlmont’s Chris Cho and Daniel Arakaki, the tournament’s No. 2 seed.
Ostrow and Lukic won their three matches in straight sets, losing a combined 10 games over the course of six sets.
Cho and Arakaki needed three sets to get past M-A’s Luke Jensen and Griffin Voss, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Aragon’s Ilan Leventhal and Richard Tang will take on Jensen and Voss in the third-place match.
Boys’ volleyball
San Mateo 3, El Camino 0
The Bearcats cruised to the PAL win over the Colts, winning 25-10, 25-10, 15-15.
Landon Finn paced the attack for San Mateo (10-5 PAL, 13-9 overall), finishing with 16 kills. Jason Wu came up with 13 digs and also have five service aces for the Bearcats.

College baseball
San Mateo 15, Mission 9
A three-run first, coupled with a five-run fourth gave the Bulldogs control of the game and the Coast Golden Gate Conference with the win over the Saints in Santa Clara.

CSM (15-4 conference, 26-11 overall) and Mission (14-5, 27-9) came into the game tied for first atop the standings. The Bulldogs guaranteed themselves a share of the conference title with the win and will play for the outright championship at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at CSM.
Tuesday, third baseman Justin Torres helped carry the offensive load for the Bulldogs, going 3 for 6 with a home run, double and five RBIs. His was part of a 16-hit attack for San Mateo, as leftfielder Christian Ontai, catcher Danny Carnazzo and shortstop Alec Ackerman picking up three hits apiece as well.
Carnazzo and Ackerman each drove in three runs, while Ontai added two RBIs.
Brett Karalius got his third straight Tuesday start for the Bulldogs and gave up his first earned runs as a starter. Karalius pitched into the sixth inning, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits. Austin Moberg and Carlo Lopiccolo closed out the game for CSM.
College softball
San Mateo 3, Ohlone-Fremont 2
The Bulldogs wrapped up an undefeated Coast Conference North campaign by holding off the rival Renegades in the regular-season finale and running their winning streak to an even 30 games in a row.
CSM (14-0 conference, 37-2 overall) had to rally to keep its win streak going, scoring twice in the top of the seventh to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead.
Mandy Ubois-Weitenhagen had the big hit, as her triple in the seventh drove in Kait Grech and Avery Revera.
It was the third RBI of the game for Ubois-Weitenhagen, who singled home Ally Sarabia in the top of the first.
The late rally made a winner of CSM pitcher Emily McAdams, who threw a complete game, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out seven and walking five.
The Bulldogs will next host a first-round regional May 3-4.
Boys’ volleyball
Carlmont 3, El Camino 0
The Scots wrapped up the PAL title with the 25-10, 25-25-16, 25-17 over the Colts.
Carlmont (15-0 PAL) is a win over Hillsdale away from a perfect PAL season.
Dominique Veinstein led the way offensive for Carlmont, finishing with six kills. Ben Barde added five kills, while Samuel Jung added four service aces.
Sacred Heart Prep 3, Santa Clara 0
The Gators rolled past the Bruins in straight sets, 25-14, 25-11, 25-8.
John Marc Bautista led the SHP attack, finishing with 10 kills. Garrett Pinkston added nine kills and five service aces, while Carter Sun triggered the offense, finishing with 33 assists.
