Foster City has been lucky enough to have a robust field of council candidates this year. When all five come knocking at your door, however, telling you amazing things and appearing capable and up for the task, how does one decide who the best candidate might be?
Knowing all five candidates in various capacities, I can say that two rise solidly well above the crop — Shankar Kenkre and Suzy Niederhofer. Both candidates are committed to civility. They are longtime residents who care deeply for the people in their community. Moreover, they are both highly intelligent, analytical people who rely on facts and data, and combined with their work ethic and love for Foster City. I have no doubt they will be a driving force for good and bring a much needed fresh perspective to our council, leaving ego at the door. Suzy has over 32 years of bringing balanced budgets in her previous professional roles in the city of Mountain View’s finance department, and Shankar brings years of working to encourage community involvement in local government while working with local residents in giving back to our community with various nonprofits.
While I am sure I will work well with any of the candidates, none of the remaining three have yet to earn my third vote. I believe Foster City would be well served by Shankar and Suzy and urge my fellow residents to vote for these two amazing individuals.
