South City 15, Jefferson 0
The Warriors needed only three innings to beat the Grizzlies in a PAL Ocean Division game.
South City (2-0 PAL Ocean, 6-6 overall) scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and eight more in the second.
Alyssa Huerta paced the offense for the Warriors, going 1 for 2 with a triple, two runs scored and four RBIs. Karizma Bergesen and Hailey Mesienbach each drove in three runs as well, with Bergesen drilling a three-run homer.
Baseball
El Camino 7, Half Moon Bay 0
Playing for the second time in as many days, the Colts got the split as they beat the Cougars in a PAL Ocean Division game.
After three scoreless inning, El Camino (2-1 PAL Ocean, 5-4 overall) took control with a four-run fourth. The Colts then tacked on single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
El Camino starting pitcher Levi Stubbles was on top of his game, throwing a complete game, two-hitter.
Josue Iniguez drove in a pair of runs for the Colts, Stubbles helped his own cause with a RBI double. Jacob Soto, Matthew Dayao and Alex Anguiano all drove in a run as well.
Half Moon Bay falls to 3-3 in league play and 10-4 overall.
SHP, TKA run long
After three hours and 37 minutes of baseball, the King’s Academy’s game at Sacred Heart Prep was called due to darkness amid a precarious situation in the bottom of the 10th inning. With game tied 4-4 going into extra innings, TKA rallied for two runs in the top of the 10th. SHP answered back, but after pushing a run home to close the score to 6-5, and the bases full of Gators, play was halted.
Either the game will be resumed with the bases loaded an no outs in the bottom of the 10th and no outs, or the 10th inning will be wiped off the books and the game will be declared a 4-4 tie.
Ronan Donnelly got the 10th-inning rally going for SHP with an infield single. The junior went 3 for 5 on the day, though the third hit is contingent on the game being completed. Will Moldow then walked and Teddy Purcell got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Alex Nissenberg then drew a walk to force home Donnelly.
Senior right-hander Reece Lindquist entered in the fourth inning in relief of starter Parker Isaacson. Lindquist worked six innings, yielding two run, one earned.
Boys’ golf
Terra Nova 274, South City 277
Oscar Gutierrez fired a 42 to lead the Tigers to the PAL Ocean Division win over the Warriors at Sharp Park in Pacifica.
Ryan Peña had the low round for South City, carding a 44. Teammate Owen Amores was right behind with a 47.
The difference in the match was only one golfer shooting a round in the 60s for Terra Nova, compared to two for South City.
Boys’ tennis
Crystal Springs 4, Sacred Heart Prep 3
The Gryphons captured three of the four singles matches to propel them to the WBAL victory over the Gators.
Brian Bilsey was dominant at No. 1 singles for Crystal Springs, losing only one game over two sets. Ethan Lo at No. 2 singles, and No. 3 Jackson Kresse, also won in straight sets for the Gryphons.
SHP’s Tristan Zerber had a strong showing at No. 4 singles, posting a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Half Moon Bay 3, El Camino 1, 8 innings

The Cougars scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to beat the Colts and keep pace in the race for the PAL Ocean Division title.
Jack Mettam drilled a two-run triple to drive in Tristan Hofmann and David Fisher, who had both walked.
That made a winner of Danny Guevara, who pitched a complete game, allowing one run while scattering six hits and striking out seven, including the final two batters of the game.
In addition to his run scored, Hofmann drove in the first run for HMB (3-2 PAL Ocean, 10-3 overall), plating Casildo Guevara to take 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth. El Camino (1-1) would come back to tie it in the bottom of the inning.
Boys’ tennis
Sacred Heart Prep 5, King’s Academy 2
A doubles sweep propelled the Gators to a WBAL win over the Knights.
All three doubles matches went three sets. Spencer Lee and Grady Hornbeek needed to rally from a set down and win a third-set super tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-2, (10-5).
Antonio Caceres and Warren Long also came back from a one-set deficit for SHP at No. 3 doubles. They were blitzed in the first set, 1-6, but turned the table in the second, winning 6-1. Caceres and Long then took the match by winning a third-set, super tiebreaker 10-7.
James Pleansants and Cameron Camozzi won their first set at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, dropped the second 4-6, and won the super tiebreaker 10-8.
Girls’ lacrosse
Sacred Heart Prep 13, Mitty 10
The Gators had to withstand a second-half Monarchs rally to pull out the WBAL Skyline Division victory.
SHP led 9-3 at halftime.
Genna Gibbons had a big game for the Gators, scoring seven times. Sasha Bellack, Ellie Noto and Allison Carter each added two goals apiece for SHP.
Emma Briger finished with five saves for the Gators.
Boys’ volleyball
Sacred Heart Prep 3, Wilcox 2
Jack Loftus hammered home 20 kills as the Gators rallied from a set down to beat the Chargers 25-16, 23-25, 24-26, 27-17, 15-7.
Garrett Pinkston added 18 kills and John Marc Bautista had a 11 to give the Gators three in double-digit kills. Pinkston also had five blocks defensively.
Carter Sun was an assist machine, dishing out 37. He also added three aces, three digs and a block for the Gators.
Boys’ tennis
Crystal Springs 7, Nueva School 0
The Gryphons dominated this non-league match, sweeping all seven matches without dropping a set.
The closest came at No. 4 singles, where Crystal Springs’ Justin Lim, in his first singles match, trailed 5-2 in the first set. He rallied to tie the set and win in a tiebreaker before going on to complete the sweep 6-1 as he won 11 of the last 13 games.
Ethan Lo did not lose a game at No. 2 singles for the Gryphons, while No. 3 singles player Jackson Kresse and the No. 1 doubles team of Owen Dillon and Josh Chan lost only one game.
Badminton
Crystal Springs 9, El Camino 6
A Gryphons sweep in the girls’ singles matches proved to be the difference in a PAL Ocean Division meeting.
Helen Ye led the way at No. 1 singles, surrendering only 10 points in a 21-5, 21-5 victory for Crystal Springs (6-4 PAL).
The Gryphons also picked up wins at No. 1 boys’ and girls’ doubles. Wilson Conn and Eliot Peck posted a 21-10, 21-14 victory, while Fuyoto Shigihara and Chloe Sladewski won 21-15, 21-14.
El Camino’s Alex Lee won at No. 1 singles, 21-14, 21-12. The mixed doubles team of Wilhelm Beronca and Natalia Sapinoso won 21-18, 21-11.
